At the Faculty of Veterinary  organized an event - “Bauyrsak party"

November 23, 2023 first-year students of group 23-07 of the Department of Obstetrics, Surgery and Biotechnology of Reproduction of the Faculty of Veterinary  organized an event - “Bauyrsak party”. This event was organized under the leadership of Associate Professor M.E. Alimbekova and with the participation of teachers of the department. Students of this group offered bauyrsaks to the faculty teaching staff and other students, and students - Anastasia Vakhitova and Imash Amina spoke about the history of bauyrsaks.

Bauyrsak bread, typical for nomadic peoples, baked in butter, has become a popular and favorite food today. Its name comes from a combination of the words “bauyr (brothers) + sak”, and also, the name is similar among different peoples. Although the name “bauyrsak” is pronounced differently among the Turkic peoples, it generally sounds the same: tokash, bauyrsak, boorsak, bortsokh, poorzokh...

According to tradition, the Kazakhs did not put bauyrsaks in dishes, but scattered them on the table. The meaning of this comes from the desire to have a lot of food, without restrictions. Bauyrsaki laid out on the table with wishes that every day be full of goodness and abundance. Several scattered bauyrsaks on the table symbolized the sun, children and looked like brothers. There is a belief that by doing a few small good deeds we can achieve great benefits. This means that it was not for nothing that the ancient nomadic tribes were called “SAK”, “GUN”. Apparently, a fully formed state of nomadic tribes is supposed to have a power similar to the power of the Sun in the sky. Such a nomadic empire on earth is a projection of the power of the Sun in the heavens.

Thus, the solar-colored bauyrsak is a symbol of the era when the Sun, hanging in the sky like a lantern of space, was considered an attribute of power. Today in the Kazakh language a certain part of time is conveyed by the word “shak”: i.e. past tense, present tense, future tense and childhood. Thus, the word “shak” in the word “Bauyrsak” gives the concept of a child.
