Guest lecture entitled “Features of Modern Speech Culture”

On September 29, 2026, as part of Languages Week, a guest lecture entitled “Features of Modern Speech Culture” was organized. The special guest of the event was Guldarkhan Nurgazykyzy Smagulova, Professor at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Doctor of Philological Sciences.

The guest lecture was organized by the faculty members of the Department of Languages: Associate Professor Zh.S. Kopbayeva, PhD R. Akegozhayeva, and Master of Philology A. Timurova.

The meeting was moderated by young scholar and PhD R. Akegozhayeva. She briefly introduced the students and faculty members to the scholar’s main areas of research and academic contributions and then invited Guldarkhan Nurgazykyzy Smagulova to address the audience.

In her speech, the scholar encouraged students to cherish and respect their native language, which has been passed down from generation to generation, to value its richness, and to preserve the culture of speech. During the lecture, she spoke in detail about the features of modern speech culture and shared valuable insights into one of the main areas of her research – phraseology and phraseological units. Her scholarly views and conclusions, based on her research experience, generated considerable interest among the students.

At the end of the meeting, the students asked the scholar questions that were of particular interest to them and took part in a meaningful exchange of ideas.

The guest lecture was informative and engaging. During the meeting, the students gained valuable insights into the contemporary use of the Kazakh language, speech culture, and the importance of linguistic heritage. The scholar’s thoughtful discussion contributed to increasing young people’s interest in their native language and fostering a respectful attitude toward linguistic culture. The event left a positive impression on the participants and will be remembered as a meaningful and informative meeting.
