International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence – New Perspectives for Scientific Research at KazNARU
On May 23, 2025, the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU) hosted an international workshop on artificial intelligence, focusing on its practical AI applications in academia.
A workshop is a modern learning model that emphasizes hands-on practice and teamwork. This time, it was co-organized by the students’ team of Lehigh University (USA) - members of the "Central Asian Researchers Network” and KazNARU's International Office and the Institute of Green and Sustainable Development.
The main focus of the seminar for KazNARU undergraduate and master's students was integrating AI into scientific research. Contemporary technologies open new doors for young researchers, enabling faster data processing, better information organization, and improved academic writing.
Special attention was given to working with LinkedIn, explaining its features and strategies for career growth and international partnerships.
Participants explored leading AI platforms: Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and Google Gemini.
They learned how to use AI for data analysis, literature reviews, translations, and scientific writing.
AI tools for structuring information and enhancing cross-language collaboration were examined.
Workshop Goals:
Identify effective AI tools for scientific research.
Master methods for text generation, résumé writing, and translation.
Review best practices for data accuracy and transparency.
Explore AI’s potential in academic collaboration and knowledge sharing.
KazNARU's Vice-Rector for International Relations, Rafis Abazov, emphasized AI’s significance in higher education:
"Artificial intelligence has become an integral part of the educational landscape. Today, it’s crucial not only to master AI technologies but also to learn how to interact with them consciously and effectively, so that future professionals can integrate AI harmoniously into their work and drive innovation," he stated.
Maya Suyunchaliyeva, a leading specialist at KazNARU's Institute of Green and Sustainable Development, stressed the importance of AI for scientific work:
"AI applications should be used selectively—as a tool for assistance rather than a device that completely replaces human effort. Scientific research and articles are no exception," she explained.
The knowledge and experience gained during the workshop are the result of active participation by all attendees, greatly enhancing the effectiveness of learning. Above all, this event fostered a unique communication microclimate for mutually beneficial strategic collaboration.
