KazNARU STRENGTHENS INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIP: KAZAKHSTAN–AFGHANISTAN EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH CENTER TO BE ESTABLISHED IN KABUL

Kazakh National Agrarian Research University has taken an important strategic step toward expanding international academic cooperation. As part of the official visit of the Kazakh delegation to Afghanistan, headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin, an agreement was reached in Kabul to establish the Kazakhstan–Afghanistan Educational and Research Center in the fields of water resources management, irrigation and sustainable agriculture.
The document was signed between the Kazakh National University of Water Management and Irrigation, Kazakh National Agrarian Research University and Kabul University. The new center will be established on the basis of Kabul University and will focus on effective water resources management, irrigation, sustainable agricultural development amid climate change, scientific research and the training of qualified specialists.
This initiative is of particular importance for KazNARU. The university is participating in the project as one of the leading higher education institutions promoting scientific and educational potential at the international level in the fields of agricultural science, water-saving technologies, digital monitoring, geographic information systems and smart agriculture.
The center’s activities will be aimed at addressing issues of high relevance to Central Asia and Afghanistan. Particular attention will be given to ensuring water security, the rational use of water resources, the modernization of irrigation systems, adaptation to climate change and the strengthening of food security.
Rafis Fanisovich Abazov, Vice-Rector for International Relations at KazNARU, noted that this initiative will bring scientific and academic cooperation between the two countries to a new level. According to him, the project will create new opportunities for introducing advanced Kazakh scientific developments into practice, training a new generation of specialists in agroengineering and developing smart agriculture technologies.
The Kazakhstan–Afghanistan Educational and Research Center in Kabul will become an effective platform for developing academic mobility, implementing joint research projects and exchanging best international practices.
This initiative fully aligns with the strategic course of the Head of State aimed at strengthening water diplomacy, developing regional cooperation and promoting Kazakhstan as one of the leading centers of international education and science.
KazNARU’s participation in such a large-scale international project confirms the university’s strong scientific potential in the fields of agricultural science, water resources management and sustainable development.
