Biodiversity of the Ili Alatau: Educational seminar as part of Science Day
On April 7, 2026, a seminar "Biodiversity of Ile- Alatau" was held at the Faculty of Forestry and Land Resources as part of the decade dedicated to the Day of Science. This seminar was attended by Director of the Department of Science of KazNARU A. Sultanov, Dean of the Faculty D. Sarsekova, Head of the Department of Forest Resources, Hunting and Aquaculture A. Kopabaeva, a number of specialists from the Ile-Atau SNNP, headed by the Head of the Department of Research and Mountain Biodiversity Ile-Alatau S. Userbaeva. The event was organized by Indira Maysupova, Head of the Department of Landscape Design and Greening.
As a result of the seminar, which was attended by students of EP 6B08304 - "Landscape Design and Greening" and 6B08302 - "Forest Resources and Forestry," students were introduced to the diversity of flora and fauna in the Ile-Alatau region, endemic, relict and rare species listed in the Red Book, forest protection, reproduction and landscape placement, environmental education and recreational monitoring, as well as with ongoing research and directions in the Ile-Alatau State National Natural Park.
Participants gained skills in analyzing anthropogenic impacts on the Ile Alatau ecosystem, including the impact of tourism, urbanization and climate change, as well as familiarized themselves with environmental regulations, the functioning of specially protected natural areas, a biodiversity conservation strategy and international environmental initiatives. As a result of the seminar, students developed competencies in the field of scientific and environmental analysis, environmental planning and sustainable use of natural resources.
