Prevention of HIV Infection Among Young People

Within the framework of World AIDS Day, on 2 December of the current year, lecturers of the Department of “Zooengineering and Biotechnology” — Sh.R. Adylkanova, A.D. Orakbayeva, B.K. Sansyzbayeva and F.G. Sagymbek — organized a meeting at our educational institution dedicated to the issues of youth health protection and the prevention of dangerous infectious diseases. The main purpose of the event was to provide students with information about HIV infection and to conduct awareness-raising activities on its prevention.

An experienced epidemiologist, Zhanar Kozhabaykyzy Aruova, from the Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS under the Almaty City Health Department, was invited as a special guest. In her speech, she gave a detailed explanation of the routes of HIV transmission, disease prevention measures, and the importance of personal responsibility.

Young people are the most socially active segment of the population; therefore, it is necessary to increase the level of awareness regarding HIV prevention measures. During the event, the youth showed high engagement, and a question-and-answer session was held. In particular, the ways of protection against infection, risk prevention, and responsible attitudes towards personal health were widely discussed. The doctor emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and relying on accurate information. We are confident that such meetings make a significant contribution to the development of a culture of health among young people and the formation of a correct public attitude towards HIV infection.
