KAZNARU AND LANZHOU UNIVERSITY DEFINE A NEW LEVEL OF COOPERATION
On November 6, 2025, a delegation from Lanzhou University, one of China’s leading universities, headed by Vice President Professor Wang Wei, visited the KazNARU.
During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening scientific and academic cooperation between the two universities, reviewed the progress of joint projects, shared experiences, and outlined prospective areas for future partnership.
First Deputy Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNARU, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor Primkul Ibragimov, emphasized in his speech that cooperation with China is a key direction of the university’s international development strategy. He highlighted the significance of projects signed at the presidential level between the two countries, including the Smart Agriculture Center, and stressed the need to further develop joint scientific and innovative initiatives with Lanzhou University.
In turn, Vice President of Lanzhou University Wang Wei noted the high level of ongoing cooperation between the two universities and expressed the importance of expanding joint research into other areas of agriculture, as well as strengthening academic ties.
Executive Director of KazNARU’s Scientific and Technological Platform, Farabi Yermekov, presented a detailed report on the activities and achievements of the Smart Agriculture Center. He outlined the key focus areas of the center, stages of developing research infrastructure, and the introduction of digital
technologies, as well as the center’s future development strategy.
In addition, a progress report was presented on the program BR24993222 “Development of a Decision Support System for Ensuring Sustainable Development of the Natural and Economic Structure of the North Kazakhstan Region.” The report highlighted the achievements of the joint work of Kazakh-Chinese scientific teams. At the conclusion, a list of new projects planned for implementation in the near future and a roadmap for future joint research were presented.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to implement joint research projects in the fields of sustainable development and digitalization of the agro-industrial complex, to expand academic mobility for researchers and faculty, and to introduce double-degree programs.
Furthermore, the universities agreed to establish joint research laboratories, promote the transfer of innovative technologies, and support student startups. These agreements represent an important step toward elevating scientific and innovative cooperation between Kazakhstan and China to a new level and are aimed at strengthening the integration of education and science in the field of agriculture.
