Relevance
Today, the current state of water accounting in Kazakhstan is characterized by the lack of operational water accounting, irregular metering, the use of outdated methods of measuring water consumption by means of water measuring rods and gauging devices, which ultimately leads to irrational and inefficient metering and distribution of irrigation water. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the level of automation and digitalization of water accounting, modernization of irrigation infrastructure, etc.
Project Goals
Development of an automated water management system for efficient water allocation in melioration systems based on digitalization of irrigation canals by installing devices providing monitoring, control and operational transfer of information on levels and discharges in the water source
Expected and/or achieved results
1) According to the results of theoretical and applied research, at least 2 (two) will be published articles and (or) reviews in peer-reviewed scientific publications indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded of the Web of Science database and (or) having a CiteScore percentile in the Scopus database of at least 50 (fifty).
2) 1 application will be filed and a patent for a utility model will be obtained at the Kazakhstan Patent Office.
3) Dissemination of the results will be carried out by improving the qualifications of farmers, training highly qualified and competitive specialists who meet modern requirements of water management. Conducting a Field Day and introducing it into a lecture course on the discipline "Irrigation reclamation" for bachelors in the educational program "Reclamation, reclamation and land protection".
(1). The results of the research during the implementation of the Project will be replicated in wide circles interested in obtaining high and stable yields of crop agricultural products, among representatives of government and business structures, scientists and students, as well as the public by participating in conferences.
2). The implementation of the proposed project can be the basis for obtaining breakthrough results on the creation of automated systems for accounting, monitoring and control of water resources and provides a real opportunity for digitalization of water infrastructure in irrigation systems of Kazakhstan.
3) Within the framework of the Project, the design of a device for remote measurement of water levels and flow rates in the channels of irrigation systems in Kazakhstan will be developed and implemented. The results of theoretical and applied research and tests carried out in production conditions make it possible to commercialize the scientific results obtained.
4). The developed design of the device for receiving, converting and transmitting information (utility model patent №7346 dated 12. 08.2022) will allow you to quickly manage the distribution of irrigation water on reclamation systems, to ensure maximum automation of the data transmission process. The implementation of the project's research results will provide irrigation water savings of up to 25-30%, reduce the risk of degradation of irrigated lands, stimulate water consumers to introduce water–saving technologies in irrigation, and also diversify in crop production.
Information for potential users
The project is aimed at solving one of the most important tasks - digitalization of water infrastructure, which will ensure efficient and rational use of water resources in irrigation systems. Advantages of the project results are: simple design, cheapness and use on main and inter-farm canals in climatic conditions of Kazakhstan regions
