About the project
Relevance
Viruses are dangerous intracellular pathogens of garden crops. Because of the latent nature of many viruses, they are widely distributed with contaminated planting material, with tools for agricultural work, with pollen and seeds, aphids and other vectors. Some of these pathogens cause serious crop losses and often reduce the productive life of gardens. The frequent exchange of planting material between nurseries around the world has facilitated its distribution to new areas. An important task is the analysis of the prevalence of viral diseases and the improvement of methods of treatment against pome virus.
Goal
Identification of the main viral diseases, taking into account their distribution range, for the production of elite planting material of seed crops using biotechnological methods.
Expected and achieved results
During the implementation of the project, selected economic-valuable varieties and clonal pods will be molecular screening for viruses; pathogens of viral diseases will be identified. Effective methods of elimination of viruses in meristem tissues will be developed - the most effective combinations of biotechnology methods consisting of thermotherapy, chemotherapy, cryotherapy and culture of isolated meristems will be determined; The process of recovery and reproduction in vitro of clone feeds and varieties after therapy has been optimized; the original basic container culture of virus-free material of seed crops will be obtained.

Information for potential users
The strengthening of the food security of the Republic can be achieved through the development and intensification of domestic production of finished and raw products of agricultural crops. The main approaches of the project are to increase production efficiency and reduce environmental damage through the application of biotechnological methods and to reduce the use of ineffective plant protection in gardens. Laying gardens with a harmless material will save money, get a stable harvest and increase the life of the garden.
