About the project
Relevance
In the southern and southeastern regions of Kazakhstan, a large share in the agricultural sector traditionally falls on medium-sized and relatively small farms. The basis of agricultural production is irrigated agriculture. Therefore, the rise of agriculture in these regions is directly related to the intensive use of irrigated land, the reduction in the cost of production in farms and peasant farms and their economic condition. Therefore, the problem of improving agricultural production through intensive use of irrigated lands by obtaining two or three harvests per year through the introduction of water-saving and resource-saving technologies is especially urgent.
Goal
To study the biological features of new non-traditional crops for irrigated lands in the south and south-east of Kazakhstan and identify the most suitable crops for primary and intermediate sowing and develop a technology for their cultivation, ensuring guaranteed production of two crops in one year.
Achieved results
The development and implementation of new technology recommended by us, obtained from the results of scientific work, will create additional jobs in the village. The additional harvest obtained by growing an intermediate crop will allow farmers to strengthen the feed base, increase the number of livestock, which in turn will produce cheaper and more competitive livestock products.

The chief researcher of the project, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Atakulov T.A., spoke on television three times:
- 06.09.2022 at 20:00 on the Almaty TV channel live on the topic: "What innovative technologies exist in irrigated agriculture?", the duration of the program is 28 minutes 35 seconds;
- 09.09.2022. at 15:00 on the channel "Almaty TV" live news programs on the same topic;
- 07.09.2023 at 19:00 on the channel "Almaty TV" on the development of agriculture in Kazakhstan, the Message of President K.K. Tokayev to the people of Kazakhstan.
Information for potential users
The developed technology will be in demand by farmers and peasant farms, agricultural cooperatives and partnerships of the irrigated zone of the southern and southeastern regions of Kazakhstan. Due to the growth of livestock, especially in the suburban area, the technology being developed may become the most effective method of strengthening the feed base of small and medium-sized farms and increasing their profitability.
