A new technology for growing low-growing seedlings on the rootstock of the Sievers apple tree

     On June 5, 2025, a training seminar on the topic was held on the basis of the RSE "Esik State Arboretum Park", located at the address: Almaty region, Enbekshikazakh district, Aktogay village, H. Abdullina str., 10 years old: "A new technology for growing low-growing seedlings on the rootstock of the Sivers apple tree" (fruit and berry crops, horticulture, nursery farming, horticultural crops).

   The seminar was conducted by Sergey Nikolaevich Oleichenko, PhD in Biology, Professor of Kazakh National Agrarian Researcher University.

The lesson addressed the issues of the dissemination of alternative methods of horticulture development. This method is based on a more complete use of the biological capabilities of fruit crops, as well as on saving material and labor resources.

The following issues were highlighted during the lecture:

- The main directions of fruit growing development in the world and in Kazakhstan;

- the role of clonal low-growing rootstocks as the main base of modern horticulture, as well as their disadvantages, do not allow fully realizing the adaptive and productive potential of fruit crops;

- Existing and innovative limitations of fruit crop growth;

- The key points that farmers should pay attention to when laying gardens and growing low-growing gardens without trellis on seed stocks.

In the practical part of the seminar, the participants visited the demonstration site of the arboretum Park nursery and the biotechnology laboratory.

Following the results of the seminar, knowledge testing, discussion of lecture topics, questionnaires and presentation of certificates were conducted.
