RECTOR OF KAZNARU IN THE USA MET WITH THE MANAGEMENT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA LINCOLN
The Chairman of the Board - Rector of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University, Akhilbek Kazhygulovich Kurishbayev, recently visited the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to sign an "Agreement on the Development of Comprehensive and Mutually Beneficial Cooperation and Partnership." This agreement outlines a partnership between the two universities to create a double-degree program in agronomy, natural and water resource management, environmental science, biological systems engineering, and other related master's programs. This program will allow KazNARU students to continue their studies in the United States.
In addition to the double-degree program, the partnership also includes the development of a roadmap for an Extension Services Center that will transfer and disseminate the latest technologies and scientific developments among Kazakh farmers. The agreement also provides for cooperation on conducting joint research on water resource management.
During discussions with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the two parties agreed that a representative delegation from the university will visit KazNARU in the near future to discuss the possibility of creating a Satellite Campus for students and a Farmer Knowledge Dissemination Center. The parties also discussed the possibility of teachers from the University of Nebraska conducting a series of workshops, seminars, and advanced training courses for KazNARU's teaching staff, as well as giving lectures for masters and doctoral students.
During the visit, Kurishbayev also met with the Vice President of Wellmont, one of the world's leading companies producing equipment and technologies for irrigation systems, Mr. Darin Sikman, to discuss the creation of a joint Competence Center for water management. The KazNARU management team visited scientific laboratories and an innovative greenhouse and got acquainted with the work of the Extension Services Center of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
During the visit of KazNARU's management team to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, discussions were held on various topics related to international integration, educational programs, and scientific research, specifically on water security issues. The discussions were productive as both parties reached agreements that will enable KazNARU to elevate its standards and reach a new level of international integration, which will ultimately benefit the quality of education and scientific research. Additionally, the partnership will create an opportunity for the creation of Competence Centers for farmers in Kazakhstan, which will provide them with the necessary resources and support to improve their skills and knowledge on modern farming techniques. Overall, this partnership between KazNARU and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will provide a platform for mutual growth and development, and pave the way for future collaborations.
