KAZNARU ENTERED THE RANKING OF THE BEST UNIVERSITIES IN THE WORLD IN QS SUSTAINABILITY RANKINGS 2024 AND 5th PLACE AMONG UNIVERSITIES IN KAZAKHSTAN
On December 5, 2023, the Global analytical agency in the field of higher education QS Quacquarelli Symonds published a new edition of the ranking of the best universities in the world in achieving the sustainable development goals of 2024 - QS Sustainability Rankings 2024.
1,397 universities from 95 countries participated in the ranking.
✅ Among the 12 universities in Kazakhstan that were included in the ranking, the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU) emerged as one of the top five universities in the country. Only five universities in Kazakhstan made it to the top 1000, and KazNARU was one of them
✅ KazNARU showed promising results in several individual indicators. For instance, it ranked among the top 500 universities in the world in the "Environmental Sustainability" indicator, which evaluates the efforts of higher education institutions to reduce their environmental impact.
The indicator “Governance” aggregates score for this category, taking into account factors associated with effective governance, such as adherence to ethical standards, the use of best practices in sourcing and hiring, transparent decision-making principles, etc.
The table below clearly demonstrates that of these three main categories, Kazakhstani universities achieved the most notable results in the “Governance” category, which weighs 10% in the overall result. It was in this category that KazNARU entered the top 300 best universities in the world, showing one of the best results among Kazakh universities. In the same category, three more Kazakh universities are in the top 300 best universities in the world. This indicates that KazNARU pays special attention to effective management and best practices in the management of higher education institutions.
✅ Other indicators analyzed the contribution of universities worldwide to environmental protection through data on graduates, operational activities, internal policies and rules, staff opinions, management approaches, and reporting. Among the 12 Kazakhstani universities participating in the ranking, 11 were among the 600 best universities in the world in this regard.
KazNARU's position in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2024 is a testament to the university's achievements in the academic, research, and social spheres at the international level. This recognition is also due to KazNARU's fruitful cooperation with advanced scientific communities and potential domestic and global employers.
✅ Kazakhstani universities excelled in the "Management Model," "Environmental Impact" (including "Sustainable Development in the Field of Environmental Protection," "Education in the Field of Environmental Protection," and "Research in the Field of Environmental Protection"), and "Social Impact" (including "Creating a Level Playing Field," "Knowledge Sharing," "Effect of Educational and Scientific Activities," "Graduate Employability," and "Health and Well-being") indicators.
By assessing universities based on indicators such as "Social Impact," "Environmental Impact," and "Governance Model," the ranking provides a unique opportunity to evaluate the contribution of higher education institutions to addressing the most pressing challenges facing modern society.
