KAZNARU UNIVERSITY PROVED IN PRACTICE THAT IT HAS BECOME A FAIR UNIVERSITY
The meeting of the Chairman of the Board-Rector of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University Akylbek Kurishbaev with students was held in an unusual format. At the meeting on the theme "fair university in practice" only students spoke and discussed issues that concern them
Ainur Akzholtaeva, a 4th year student of the Agrobiology Faculty, started the meeting: "I am very happy to take part in the meeting with you".
"As an actively involved student, I said at the November 2022 meeting that our lab classes and internships are not at the appropriate level. Since then there are many good changes. As a result, this year for the first time in four years, we had a professional internship at the Kazakh Research Institute of Plant Protection and Quarantine named after Zh. Zhiyembayev. Working in the Department of Phytopathology, participating in the study of plant diseases, interest in our profession increased. Working with conventional barcodes, we combined our theoretical knowledge with practice. This is the first time in four years that we have had such an opportunity. Thank you! One more suggestion I would like to see such high-quality professional practice continue.
In this proposal, Akylbek Kazhigulovich noted that in order to obtain quality education and realise the modern model of "Education - Science - Production" six Research Institutes and one farm are connected to our university, which is a great opportunity in the field of "Education, production practice, mastering science".
Gulnur Asylbek, 4th year student of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology: "last year, standing on this podium, I said that there were not so many interesting events for students, and in case of their organization there was no financial support from the university. This year, a wonderful enrolment celebration was organized for first-year students in the Bakshasarai Ceremonial Hall, it is interesting for us that there was no such celebration in the first year. It is nice to realize now that such wonderful opportunities are being created for the newly admitted freshmen.
Zhakan Kerimseit, 1st year student of the Faculty of Water, Land and Forest Resources:
- Dear Akylbek Kazhigulovich! Dear friends, teachers! I am a first year student of KazNAR University. During three months of study, I have taken part in many events. I was born, grew up in the city of Almaty, graduated from school. There is a stereotype among young people that only from rural areas study at the agrarian university. It is not really so, I, being from the city, chose this university myself, specialty "Cadastre". I am always proud of my choice, talking about my university among my friends. It is important to emphasize here that I believe that students should be actively involved in Vocational guidance work as well".
The head of the university Akylbek Kurishbaev gave comprehensive answers to such diverse opinions and questions, noting that everything that is done only for students to get a good education and study carefree. Thus, the management of KazNARU paid special attention, first, to strengthening the material and technical base of the educational institution. During the summer holidays, 8 student dormitories and academic buildings were modernized, which had not been overhauled for many years.
Among other things, student hostel № 6, which had fallen into private hands, was returned to the housing fund of the educational institution and additional housing was provided for 200 students. Student hostel № 3 with 230 beds, the major renovation of which is completed in the coming days, is also planned to be put into operation. Another big news is that the construction of a new 9-storey student hostel for 450 places, which will be built in a modern style, has started. The total area of the building, which is being constructed based on Public-Private Partnership is 6,714.3 sq. m. A medical center for students with an area of 398.2 sq. m. will be built next to the hostel for students.
A direct social benefit for students is provided for students. "Students expressed their gratitude for the opening of a student shop, which I operate, and the installation of washing machines and refrigerators in the dormitories. Because of such actions, KazNARU has become the only university in Almaty that has fully provided its students with dormitory accommodation. All we ask is one request just study well and contribute to improving the reputation of our university," said the head of the university Akylbek Kazhigulovich.
