KazNARU ENHANCES COOPERATION WITH DUTCH FRUIT SOLUTIONS KAZAKHSTAN (NETHERLANDS)
On March 14, 2023 the Chairman of the Board - Rector of KazNARU, Akhylbek Kurishbayev met with the delegation from Netherlands, Mr. Frederik Vossenaar, a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The meeting was attended by: Azat Sultanov - Director, Processing Department of Crop Production, Minister of agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chingiz Kanapyanov - Honorary Consul of the Netherlands in Almaty, Alfredo Evers - Coordinator of DFSK (Kingdom of the Netherlands), Bart Ober - Heijmul representative, Zhanna Matvienko - Fall Creek representative, Arsen Rysdauletov - DFSK Manager, Anastasia Ryabukha - representative of the Embassy of Netherlands in Kazakhstan. The meeting was also attended by KazNARU staff and scientists.
During the conversation, there were discussed current issues and prospects of cooperation between KazNARU and Dutch company DFSK, in particular on the implementation of a joint project "Demonstration Garden", where students, masters and doctoral students are taking a part in the production and research practices.
The Head of the university Akhylbek Kazhigulovich said that Kazakh National Agrarian Research University is a leading university in Kazakhstan, which trains specialists in agriculture and introduces best practices based on transfer of new knowledge and technologies with leading universities and research centres worldwide.
"We are grateful to our business partner Dutch company DFSK for cooperation on creation of Demonstration plot of fruit and berry crops, which is implemented in our educational and experimental farm "AgroUniversity" since 2020. Kazakhstan-Netherlands Intensive Garden Centre, which is a demonstration site for modern innovations in fruit growing, using new varieties of fruit and berry crops and technologies for their cultivation. The Centre also provides real assistance to farmers in Kazakhstan in learning how to plant, manage and maintain orchards according to Dutch technology", Akhylbek Kazhygulovich mentioned.
For his part, DFSK coordinator Alfredo Evers stressed: "We have come on a targeted visit to discuss the possibility of further cooperation. We know that KazNARU is rightly considered the flagship of agricultural education in Central Asia. We were interested in your innovative and technological breakthrough, including scientific and educational clusters in the groups of sciences: faculties, departments, research institutes, international research centres and laboratories. Given all this, we intend to expand cooperation with your university and we are ready to exchange experiences in the research field.
As a result of the meetings, an agreement was reached to extend the "Joint Activity Agreement" for another 5 years. The document provides for:
- scientific interaction, joint research;
- development of knowledge dissemination system, training of farmers, expansion of interaction with businesses;
- exchange of experience and information related to educational and methodological work and scientific project;
- as well as development of student exchange programs, double diploma programs, organization of master classes, joint scientific conferences and seminars, etc.
