“A READING NATION IS A PROGRESSIVE NATION”: KAZNARU LAUNCHES A READING MARATHON
Today, KazNARU hosted the opening of a reading marathon organized by the Scientific Library and the Department of Languages. The initiative aims to encourage students, faculty members, and university staff to read more Kazakh and world literature.
The opening ceremony featured a welcoming address by Gulmira Alpysbayeva, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, who congratulated participants on the launch of the marathon.
The special guest of the event, Dauletbek Baitursynuly, a poet and translator, shared his reflections on the importance of books and reading in our lives. University PhD student Nazerke Nakibayeva spoke about the importance of making reading a meaningful and lasting habit among young people.
Aigul Akshalova, Deputy Director of the Scientific Library, explained the rules and format of the marathon, while third-year student Nurzhaman Raikhan shared personal reflections on books and reading.
The event continued with an engaging literary quiz, where students identified literary characters, authors, and book titles. The winners received prizes.
Musical performances by first-year students Nurtilek Baidauletuly and Abilai Mansurzhanov added a warm and festive atmosphere to the event.
