KazNARU ENTERS THE TOP 500 IN THE UI GREENMETRIC WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS
According to the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, KazNARU has risen from 740th to 422nd place, entering the world’s Top 500 universities. Among the 41 universities from Kazakhstan included in the ranking, KazNARU placed 5th.
The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings assess the contribution of higher education institutions to environmental protection and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The ranking evaluates a comprehensive range of indicators, including the extent of green areas, trees and open spaces on campus; the implementation of energy-efficient technologies; waste sorting and recycling and the reduction of plastic use; water-saving technologies and the reuse of rainwater and wastewater; the development of sustainable transportation; as well as environmental courses, scientific research, publications and student-led green initiatives.
Being ranked among the world’s Top 500 universities demonstrates KazNARU’s commitment to environmental responsibility at the global level and reflects the effectiveness of its policies aimed at the efficient use of energy and water resources and budget optimization. This achievement also strengthens KazNARU’s international reputation and expands opportunities to attract international applicants, researchers and research investment.
