SCIENTIFIC COLLABORATION BETWEEN LEIBNIZ UNIVERSITY HANNOVER AND KazNARU CONTINUES

KazNARU is hosting a scientific and educational program for students and master's students from Leibniz University Hannover (LUH), running from September 25 to October 2, 2026. The program brings together 14 students from the LUH Faculty of Natural Sciences, who are studying the interrelationships between water, soil, vegetation, and land use through the interdisciplinary Water–Soil Nexus approach.

The research is conducted under the supervision of Professor Georg Guggenberger from the LUH Institute of Earth System Sciences and Ainura Aldiyarova, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Water Resources and Land Reclamation at KazNARU. The program focuses on modern approaches to sustainable water and soil resource management, preventing land degradation, adapting agriculture to climate change, and improving water-use efficiency.

As part of the program, participants are introduced to KazNARU's research infrastructure. They visited the Water Quality Control Laboratory, the Kazakhstan–China International Joint Laboratory for Highly Efficient Water Use in Agriculture in Arid Regions, the Hydrology and Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory, and the Scientific and Educational Laboratory of Agricultural Drones. Students were introduced to modern methods of water and soil monitoring, hydrological and hydraulic engineering research, water-saving technologies, and the potential applications of unmanned systems in agriculture.

The scientific and educational program combines theoretical training with practical and field research, promoting knowledge exchange among students, faculty members, and researchers from both universities. Initiatives of this kind are aimed at strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between KazNARU and Leibniz University Hannover, advancing international research collaboration, and training specialists capable of addressing current challenges in sustainable natural resource management.
