Educational Event on the Prevention of Bullying and Suicidal Behavior Held at KazNARU

On February 17, 2026, master’s students of the Department of Zooengineering and Biotechnology, Anita Seselkina and Amelia Zainulina, conducted an educational event for students of group MSh-25-04R on the topic “Suicide and Bullying: How to Recognize, Prevent, and Provide Support.”
The purpose of the event was to raise students’ awareness of bullying and suicidal behavior, foster responsibility for psychological safety within the academic community, and develop skills for timely response to warning signs.
During the meeting, participants discussed the causes of bullying, its forms, and its impact on an individual’s psycho-emotional well-being. Special attention was given to risk factors of suicidal behavior, warning signs, and the recommended course of action when such signs are identified.
Students explored how to recognize symptoms of psychological crisis, including social withdrawal, sudden changes in mood and behavior, decreased interest in academic and social activities, and expressions of hopelessness. Preventive measures were also emphasized, such as creating a safe and supportive environment, promoting a culture of mutual respect, preventing aggression, and informing students about available support resources.
Through discussions and case-based activities, participants proposed strategies for conflict prevention, early intervention, and appropriate assistance — ranging from contacting academic advisors and university psychologists to providing peer support.
As part of the event, a short survey was conducted to identify the most effective preventive measures. The majority of students highlighted the importance of open dialogue, a trusting environment, and timely response to warning signs.
The event contributed to fostering students’ active engagement in preventing bullying and suicidal behavior, as well as strengthening their sense of responsibility for the well-being of others.
