KazNARU and Jeonbuk National University (Republic of Korea) Agree to Establish a Joint Research Center

On October 14, 2025, a meeting was held with the leadership of Jeonbuk National University (Republic of Korea), which ranks first among national universities, as part of the official visit of the delegation from the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU).

The negotiations were attended by Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNARU, Academician Kurishbayev A. K., Vice-Rector for International Relations Abazov R.F., and Director of the National Academy of Sciences Department Shevchenko E.V. The delegation was received by Mr. O-Bong Yang, President of Jeonbuk National University, Vice-President for Research, Professor Jong-Hwa Lee, and Vice president for internal relations Dr. Hwarim Cho.

The central outcome of the meeting was the agreement to establish a joint research center of Jeonbuk National University based at KazNARU. The creation of the center is of strategic importance: it will become a platform for sustainable scientific dialogue, the exchange of advanced technologies, and the training of highly qualified personnel. The center is designed to deepen academic and scientific cooperation between the two universities.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed key areas of interaction: academic exchanges, joint research, technology transfer, climate change studies, the introduction of artificial intelligence and digital solutions in the agricultural sector, as well as issues of environmental sustainability and carbon footprint reduction.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at expanding the partnership, developing dual degree programs, and implementing joint projects.

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual respect and commitment to the strategic convergence of the scientific and educational systems of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea.
