VISIT BY THE DELEGATION FROM THE ECONOMIC AND TRADE DEPARTMENT OF THE SPANISH EMBASSY IN ALMATY

On October 1, KazNARU hosted a meeting with a delegation from the Economic and Trade Department of the Spanish Embassy in Almaty. The guests included Mr. Jesús Vidal Borreja, Economic and Trade Advisor, Head of Department, Ms. Oksana Gornikova, International Trade Expert, and Mr. Andoni Rodríguez Martínez, International Trade Expert.

Representing KazNARU were: Rafis Abazov, Vice-Rector for International Relations, and Maiya Suyunchaliyeva, Leading Specialist at the Institute for Green and Sustainable Development.

The meeting was opened with a welcoming speech by the Vice-Rector for International Relations, R.F. Abazov. He spoke about the university's activities, shared its achievements and provided information about the university. He also emphasized the importance of relations and cooperation with the Spanish Embassy, noting that one of the priorities is to establish cooperation in the field of international programs, hold meetings with business companies in the agro-industry, and develop five areas. Among them were animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, vaccination, biological safety, and clinical discipline. He mentioned four key areas of cooperation:

- Conducting training and practical classes in online and offline formats - in terms of development and creation of the center, practical aspects, etc. Using the example of Valmont Industries, Nebraska Center, water resource issues were also mentioned, which need to be supported and resolved through investment.

- Cooperation with French companies in terms of cooperation with farmers, internships, as well as with private companies in the UK, Poland, and Germany

- Creation of an Agro Hub for the development of food safety and food production. Following the example of Turkish companies, Chinese companies involved in the development of veterinary medicine were also mentioned, and there are plans to open a Spanish center for vaccinology in the future. The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Spain was mentioned as an example, as it is actively promoting the idea of developing vaccinology for humans and animals.

 

- Veterinary medicine - planning internships in spring 2026, business trips as part of cooperation, learning Spanish, internships based on the Work and Travel model for students, opening a Spanish language club.

 

It is necessary to support the development of smart agriculture and apply the latest technologies in the field of artificial intelligence.

Later, Mr. Jesús Vidal Borreja, Advisor on Economic and Trade Issues, Head of Department, mentioned the importance of this meeting. He stressed that joint events are a key factor in cooperation. He mentioned upcoming events in November 2025 – a webinar on Technological Day in Almaty, business cultural events, and the development of veterinary medicine in the field of animal husbandry. Later, he gave a presentation in which he detailed the activities of the Department and proposed ways of cooperation.

And the final words of gratitude for further cooperation were spoken by Rafis Abazov, Vice-Rector for International Relations. He emphasized the development of cooperation, comparing it with other companies in China and Australia (Dayu company and Rubicon).

Mr. Andoni Rodriguez Martinez, an expert in international trade, also introduced himself, stating that he is interested in the field of industrial sanitation and that he works for Rocco (Spain).
