KazNARU and the University of Malaysia Pahang: PROSPECTS FOR ACADEMIC AND SCIENTIFIC COOPERATION
On April 25, 2025, the leadership of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University met with a delegation from the University of Malaysia Pahang (UMP), a leading technical university offering a wide range of study programs in engineering, technology, and information sciences.
The purpose of the visit was to learn about KazNARU's achievements, strengthen educational ties, and deepen interaction between the two universities in the areas of scientific research, joint programs for students, and exchange of experience.
The First Vice-Chairman of the Board-Rector of KazNARU, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor Ibragimov Primkul Sholpankulovich, noted that this visit of high-ranking guests was another step in strengthening the long-term partnership between the two universities, which is aimed at improving the quality of education, developing scientific research, and training qualified specialists for the agricultural sector.
"We are ready to continue to support and develop our relations with the University of Malaysia Pahang. This cooperation creates the potential for significant international interaction between our universities, as well as the implementation of joint work on the promotion of information technologies, digitalization, and will open new horizons for our scientists," emphasized Primkul Sholpankulovich.
In turn, the Rector of the University of Malaysia Pahang Professor Dr. Yatim Alias, noted the importance of strengthening close scientific interaction and presented the achievements of UMP, which contribute to creating a high-quality educational experience for students of both countries.
"Our university, founded in 2002, strives to provide high-quality education and research to prepare students for global challenges. An important part of UMP's academic activities is the encouragement of innovative research and development in the field of engineering and technology. We actively support our scientists in conducting research projects that can lead to the development of new technologies implemented in industry. UMP's study programs include both bachelor's and master's degrees, as well as doctoral programs. Students can choose from various fields, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, information technology, industrial management, and many others," said Al-Sultan Abdullah Yatim Alias.
The Vice-Rector of KazNARU for International Relations, Rafis Abazov, presented an overview of current cooperation and strategic plans for the future. In his presentation, he focused on the successes of the joint double-degree program, which in recent years has allowed dozens of students from Kazakhstan and Malaysia to gain a unique study abroad experience.
During the negotiations, the parties also discussed the further development of joint initiatives, including increasing the number of students participating in academic exchange programs, as well as expanding bilateral educational and scientific projects. Agreements were reached on joint work on innovative research and strengthening scientific ties between the universities.
The visit program also included a tour of KazNARU's modern laboratories and research centers, where the guests familiarized themselves with the latest developments in the field of agricultural sciences and technologies. The delegation met with graduates of the joint double-degree program, who shared their unique learning and professional development experiences.
The meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere. Members of the delegation thanked the leadership of KazNARU for the constructive and fruitful meeting.
