PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN UNDER THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN PARTICIPATED IN THE 5TH CONFERENCE ON SPACE INFORMATION INDUSTRY
On June 22–23, 2025, the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akhylbek Kurishbayev, took part in the 5th National Conference on Space Information Industry and International Standardization, held in Changzhou, Zhejiang Province, People’s Republic of China. He delivered a welcome address at the opening ceremony.
This year’s conference was organized under the theme “Time–Space Intelligent Technologies Contribute to the Development of the Space Information Industry”, and served as a platform for discussing cutting-edge developments and future trends in the field.
In his address, the President of the Academy emphasized the importance of the space information industry as one of the key strategic sectors, highlighting its significant impact on economic development, improvement of social well-being, and the strengthening of international cooperation. He noted that Kazakhstan possesses unique geographical advantages and is actively engaged in the application and development of space technologies. In recent years, the country has made notable progress in the fields of remote sensing and satellite communications. Meanwhile, China has established a complete industrial chain in the space information industry, achieving remarkable technological innovations and positioning itself among the global leaders. He underlined the great potential for cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in the field of space information, stressing that the two countries can deepen their partnership in such areas as satellite technology development, data sharing, and human resource training, ultimately achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.
In addition, during the conference, Akhylbek Kurishbayev highlighted the recently established Kazakhstan–China Joint International Laboratory on Spatio-Temporal Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Development, which was launched earlier this year. Operating under the auspices of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the laboratory aims to promote the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements of both countries. He noted that this platform facilitates the introduction of China’s advanced technologies and projects in the space information sector into Kazakhstan, thereby contributing to the country’s development in this field. At the same time, it also provides opportunities for Kazakhstan’s scientific advancements to enter the Chinese market.
The 5th National Conference on Space Information Industry and International Standardization was attended by over 300 prominent experts and scholars, including renowned Chinese academicians in the field of space information such as Guo Huadong, Gong Jianya, and Zhou Chenghu.
