Scientific and innovative developments Achievements International cooperation About us
Scientific Research Institute "Agronomy and Ecology" (SRI), as a structural unit of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University was established on the basis of the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 10578 of  8 November  2000 and the order of Kazgosagruniv № OP 222 of  14 November  2000.
The purpose and objectives of the Institute are to carry out applied and fundamental research in the field of agriculture, plant growing, soil science, agrochemistry, environmental protection, horticulture, breeding, genetics, biotechnology and plant protection;
- participation in inter-regional and international scientific projects on priority problems of agroindustrial complex;
- expertise in the quality of scientific projects and programs, as well as articles submitted for publication in national and international journals;
- review and approval of the annual topics of dissertations of doctors of RhD, taking into account the profiles of the specialty, as well as recommended for public defense;
- organization of scientific conferences, publication of recommendations on the results of completed scientific projects and holding field days;
- recommending young scientists for participation in contests for personal scholarships.
In recent years, the scientists of the Institute carried out more than 20 projects on the instructions of the Ministry of Agriculture of the RK and projects of the Ministry of Education of the RK, as well as contract work with business entities, with an annual amount of funding from 116 to 135 million tenge. The total volume of implemented scientific projects to the amount of more than 168 million tenge.
For the mentioned period 12 monographs were published, more than 700 scientific articles, 30 recommendations were published, 7 author's certificates (patents and prepatents) were received, and 18 candidates, 6 doctors and 38 PhD doctors were protected.
Five international conferences (2008, 2011, 2013, 2018, 2019) with the participation of scientists from near and far abroad were organized on the initiative of the Research Institute of Agricultural Innovation and Ecology.
More than 100 employees participated in republican and international conferences.
Agrotechnopark" was established on the basis of "Agrouniversity" in Yenbekshikazakh district of Almaty region in Saimasai village.
The staff of the Department of Agronomy on the area of 16 hectares sown 12 species and 24 domestic and foreign varieties of crops.

In 2020, on the basis of educational and experimental farm "Baybulak" teachers of the Department of Fruit and Vegetable and Nut Science laid the young garden (fruit and berry crops) on the best varieties of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

According to the results of breeding research in 2019 for the first time in the history of KazNAU were transferred to the State Commission on Varietal Testing of Crops 4 new varieties (GSI):
1 - potatoes ("KazNAU-90");
1 - tomato ("Corkem");
1 - sweet pepper ("Safia");
1 - salad ("Tender").

Field seminars and round tables are regularly organized for farmers and peasants' farms to promote the introduction of completed research into production, some of them:

"Technology for obtaining two harvests per year in the South-East of Kazakhstan", project manager: doctor of agricultural sciences, professor T.Atakulov.
Hydrothermal conditions in the southern and South-Eastern regions of Kazakhstan are quite suitable for cultivation of two crops per year. As shown by numerous experiments of research institutions in Kazakhstan, growing two crops per year on the same area with the correct selection of the main (first) and repeated (second) crops does not lead to a decrease in soil fertility, allows intensive use of irrigated arable land to produce the maximum output per unit area. However, in practice, growing a second crop is not properly used by farmers, although after the harvest of winter wheat and barley remains quite a long time (90-120 days) to get a second - stubble crop.
Development and implementation of such technology may become the most effective way to diversify crop production in the south and South-East of Kazakhstan and dramatically increase irrigated crop productivity. One of the reserves at diversification of crop production in the southern and South-Eastern regions may be cultivation of corn, rape, mustard, Sudanese grass and other crops in repeated crops. With proper selection of varieties and timely receipt of friendly sprouts, these crops can give a guaranteed full after harvest for reaping. Production of additional products at the expense of the second harvest of after harvest crops can be an important source of replenishment of the fodder base of animal husbandry - a priority in recent years, the direction of agricultural development in the country.

"Innovative technologies for drying fruits, berries and vegetables in helio-dryers", project manager: candidate of agricultural sciences, associate professor T.S.Tazhibayev
A new more mobile helio-drying design was created, which provides optimal temperature and air circulation due to solar energy, instead of highly energy-consuming technologies. The technology of drying by solar energy reduces the cost of fruit and berry crops by 18-20%, ensures their high quality, increasing profits up to 20-50 thousand tons per ton.

 "Implementation of production technology for production of high-fruit, stress-resistant planting material of fruit crops of controlled quality", project manager: doctor of agricultural sciences, professor S.N. Oleychenko, co-head of candidate of agricultural sciences M.D. Esenalieva.
Adapted Dutch technology for conditions in the south, South-East of Kazakhstan, including the winter grafting, the formation of the crown of immature trees in the nursery, as well as growing seedlings with closed root system. This technology will ensure the production of high-yield, stress-resistant planting material for fruit crops with controlled quality.

According to the proposed technology, the terms of obtaining the fruit crops harvest are reduced by 2 years in comparison with the traditional method, at the same time providing the output of commercial products of high quality.

"Technology of growing grapes in accordance with the adapted European model", project manager: doctor of agricultural sciences, professor S.N. Oleychenko.
Adapted European model of cultivation of technical grape varieties in relation to soil and climatic conditions in the south and South-East of Kazakhstan. The essence of the technology is the introduction of a new combined method of forming technical varieties of grapes, based on rationing the number of eyes and shoots, by pruning, debris with subsequent minting of shoots.

The new combined method ensures the yield of technical grape varieties from 200 to 300 centners from 1 hectare, which meet the requirements of GOST to the wine varieties, which during technological processing ensures the production of elite Kazakh wines that meet the requirements of Eurostandard.

"To develop an information system for monitoring and evaluation of degraded pastures in the Republic of Kazakhstan, ensuring effective management of their restoration", program manager, doctor of agricultural sciences, professor S. Kaldybayev.
Based on the research for 2018-2020, a geoinformation map of degraded pastures in Kazakhstan with different degrees of degradation was developed.
Based on the Arcgis software, an interactive online map was developed, which integrated the studied soil and biological indicators on degraded pastures in desert, foothill semi-desert (vertical), semi-desert (latitudinal), dry-steppe, steppe and forest-steppe zones: Lepsy, Koksu, Koskudyk and Aidarly in Almaty region, Zhambyl, Moiynkum and Aqkol in Zhambyl region, the sands of Kyzylkum in Kyzylorda and Turkestan regions, Gulshat, Akshatau, Aksu-Ayuly and Atasu in Karaganda region, Zhalgyztau and Furmanov in Kostanay region, Tasty Taldy and Prirechny in Akmola region, Kalkaman and Akku (Lebyazhie) in Pavlodar region, Shar and Zhangyztobe in East-Kazakhstan region; Tasmola and Diamond in West-Kazakhstan region, Martuk and Khlebodarovka in Aktobe region, Adai and Pereleski in Kostanay region, Andreyevka in North-Kazakhstan region, Atameken and Bozaigir in Akmola region, Jubilee and Sandy in Pavlodar region and Semenovka and Kurshim in East-Kazakhstan region, a total of 32 monitoring sites in 12 regions with determination of pasture degradation degrees at each of the monitoring sites. ArcGIS is a system that allows working with online maps and related geographic information.
