KazNARU for the development of the agricultural sector of the country has done the following works:
- numerous varieties of agricultural and other crops have been transferred to the state variety testing;
- developed and improved agricultural technologies for the cultivation of the main types of agricultural crops;
- developed technologies for processing and storing agricultural products;
- developed recipes for food and animal feed;
- breeds, lines and types of farm animals and birds were bred and tested;
- developed technologies for keeping and feeding farm animals, birds and fish;
- developed vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutic preparations;
- improved systems of machines and components of grain harvesting equipment, wind, hydro, solar and biogas plants;
- science-based forest management systems and recommendations for improving the biological fire resistance of pine crops have been implemented.

In the field of the economy of the agro-industrial complex, the following recommendations are offered:
- on the formation of medium and large agricultural formations, integrated associations;
- mechanisms for stimulating the effective use of land and water resources and the formation of a market-based socio-economic infrastructure of agriculture, taking into account regional peculiarities and traditions of the population, regulating pricing and improving other regulators of the development of the agricultural economy;
- developed the concept of forming an effective market system in the agrarian sector of economy of Kazakhstan, serves as the basis for accelerated industrial-innovative development of agribusiness.

In order to achieve high scientific results, as well as to provide services to agricultural producers and enterprises of the machine-building, processing and food industries, the university has formed an effective research infrastructure, which includes:
 research institutes:
- Research Institute of Agro Innovation and Ecology;
- Research Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation

- Research Institute of Consulting Institute of Agribusiness;
- Research Institute of Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy and Sanitation;
- Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and Bioresources;
- International Research Institutes of Agricultural Engineering, Energy Supply and IT-Technologies in the AgriIndustrial Complex;

Currently, in order to further development of the scientific infrastructure, coordination and improvement of the university, there are established the following international innovation centers and laboratories:
- AgriTechnological Hub;
- Kazakh-Japanese Innovation Center;
- Water Innovation Center (Water HUB);
- Scientific and Educational Innovation Center for Food Technology and Quality;
- Center for Sustainable Agriculture;
- Kazakh-Korean Innovation Center;

- Research Center “Horticulture and Vegetable Growing”;
- Kazakh-Dutch Center of Intensive Garden;
- International Innovation Center for Vaccinology;
- Educational-Experimental farm “Saymasay”;
- Innovative Greenhouse;
- Scientific and Educational Center, which includes laboratories of technical microbiology; technologies of food quality and safety; on the physical, chemical and rheological properties of food; complex analysis of soils and the environment;
- Center for Sustainable Agriculture.
The integration of the University collaborates and performs joint research with universities and research institutions abroad, as well as with universities and research institutions, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The following research projects are carried out with foreign scientific institutes:
1. Shihezi University, XUAR of the People's Republic of China:
“Identification and creation of a database on the molecular properties and genetic code of the DNA of ticks and tick-borne diseases in the border areas of China and Kazakhstan”
2. Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute, Lanzhou, China
Project implementation: “Joint development and application of new products for the prevention and control of major transboundary animal diseases”
3. French company Seppic
The project was implemented: “Testing the safety and protectiveness of a new vector vaccine against bovine brucellosis containing 20% adjuvant Montanide Gel01 (Seppic, France) on various sex and age groups of cattle”
4. Dutch PPP company "Dutch Fruit Solution Kazakhstan".
Within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Dutch company Dutch Fruit Solution Kazakhstan, a demonstration plot of fruit and berry crops was laid in the training and experimental farm of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University to demonstrate modern innovations in the field of sustainable development of fruit growing, using new varieties and rootstocks, efficient production systems and new technologies. The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Andre Carstens, took part in the laying of the demonstration site.
The garden is planted with certified planting material of more than 40 promising varieties of apple, pear, plum, cherry, strawberry, red currant, blueberry and asparagus new to Kazakhstan from the world-famous Dutch nurseries Verbeek, Fleuren, De Kemp Av, Fall Creek, and Geerlofs.
5. Fund for Commercialization and Implementation of Agricultural Technologies of the Republic of Korea.
The project of investment of financial resources in the amount of 1.5 million US dollars for the construction in 2021 of a “Smart" greenhouse using innovative South Korean technologies with an area of 10,000 m2 (1 ha) on the basis of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University was agreed. The construction of a “Smart” greenhouse to demonstrate new advanced greenhouse technologies is of great importance for the training of young personnel (bachelors, undergraduates and doctoral students) and the training of greenhouse specialists and the transfer of knowledge on protected ground vegetable growing.
